Pellizzari resisted the return of the group of favorites to take 2nd place 22 seconds behind. The Norwegian Tobias Foss (Ineos Grenadiers) settled the sprint for 3rd place at 38 seconds and lost the overall lead to the winner of the day.
Lopez therefore takes the green leader's jersey and is 31 seconds ahead of Foss. The Australian Ben O'Connor (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) completed the podium, 45 seconds behind the Spaniard.
The 4th stage will take the peloton between Laives and Borgo Valsugana over a 141.3 km course on Thursday. The Tour of the Alps, formerly the Tour of Trentino, is contested between Italy and Austria. The 47th edition will end on Friday in Levico Terme, in Trentino-Alto Adige. The British Tao Geoghegan Hart, absent this year, won the 2023 edition.
