After the hail and torrential rain, snowflakes even appeared in Huy. Apocalyptic conditions which made Michał Kwiatkowski, Joao Almeida, Bob Jungels and even Omar Fraile crack. On RTBF, consultant Cyril Saugrain explained the difficulties encountered by runners facing this type of climate.
”Your body and clothes are damp. This can change the whole race because everyone will try to put on their raincoat. This could cause chaos. Some people's legs get hard and you can't exert 100% of your power. When you can't stand it, the physical difficulty has its effect while it is psychologically difficult for some.”
