The Hague issues a decision on Nicaragua’s lawsuit against Germany regarding Gaza

The Central American country asked the International Court of Justice, which is headquartered in… The Hagueimpose emergency measures so that Berlin stops Providing Israel with weaponsamong other things.

The court said on Friday that it would issue its decision on April 30 at three in the afternoon (13:00 GMT).

Lawyers from both countries presented their arguments during a hearing earlier this month.

Nicaragua criticized Germany for its support for Israel, and considered that providing weapons to the Israeli government while providing aid to Gaza at the same time was “unfortunate and contemptible.”

Germany responded that Israel's security was “at the heart” of its foreign policy, considering that Nicaragua had been “grossly distorted.” Germany supplies military aid to Israel.

“When examined carefully, Nicaragua's accusations fall apart,” German representative Christian Thames told the judges.

Nicaragua requested five temporary measures, the most prominent of which is that Germany “immediately suspend its aid to Israel, especially its military aid, including military equipment.”

The war began with an unprecedented Hamas attack that killed about 1,170 people in Israel, according to a tally prepared by Agence France-Presse based on official Israeli figures.

Israel has vowed to destroy Hamas, and launched an offensive that has killed at least 34,356 people so far in Gaza, most of them women and children, according to the Ministry of Health in the Hamas-run enclave.
