the evils of French justice are numerous”

Marianne: You are the author of Justice: rising anger. Where does this anger come from? French people against justice? Magistrates themselves?

Béatrice Brugère: The feeling of anger seems to me to be widely shared on all sides. This is a fairly new phenomenon: it is the anger of citizens, actors on the ground, lawyers, clerks and magistrates, prison services but also partners of justice such as the police services who have demonstrated on several occasions on the complexity of the procedure or the laxity of the criminal responses.

This anger is visible and even loud sometimes. Surveys continue to highlight a serious deficit of confidence in the action of the justice system, considered too slow, sometimes biased but above all not very effective, particularly in the execution of sentences and juvenile delinquency or in matters of family matters. Victims also complain of being mistreated, little heard and sometimes abandoned. Moreover, we had a very important strike of lawyers during the justice projects with Nicole Belloubet.
