Premier League: Nottingham Forest will have access to VAR audio of their match against Everton for three potential penalties

The club of Matz Sels and Divock Origi, 17th in the Premier League, demanded a penalty three times for two possible fouls and a handball in the area from defender Ashley Young, without winning their case.

Sources close to the refereeing body, the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), said the body had nothing to hide and would give Forest the opportunity to listen to the recording in private, as he would do for any other club making a similar request.

Audio relating to a Luis Diaz wrongly disallowed goal for Liverpool at Tottenham earlier this season was made public, but in this case there had been a serious communication error and so the matter was handled differently.

Forest took the risk of being sanctioned by the English Federation and the Premier League for having reacted violently to these alleged injustices.

The club, already penalized with a withdrawal of four points for reckless spending, notably declared in a press release on Sunday that it had “warned” the PGMOL that Attwell “was a fan of Luton”, one of its rivals in the fight against relegation, but that the body had not modified its designation.

Forest issued a further statement on Monday evening, calling for rules regarding referees' allegiances in terms of the teams they support to be updated to take into account “contextual rivalries in the championship standings”.
