Overwatch 2 Players Are Upset with Mythic Prism Prices in the Shop

Highlights

  • Season 10 of Overwatch 2 brings Venture and Mythic Prism currency, but fans are disappointed with high prices for Mythic Prisms.
  • Mythic skins now cost $75 with 80 Mythic Prisms needed, making them less accessible to average players in Overwatch 2.
  • Players can earn up to 80 Prisms through the premium battle pass, but still need to spend $9.99 for the pass to unlock Mythic skins.

Season 10 of Overwatch 2 is finally here, and while it does pack plenty of goodies for players, the new Mythic Prism currency it introduces has fans disappointed due to the considerably high prices players will have to pay to obtain them. Many fans of Overwatch 2 have been interested in an alternative method of obtaining the elusive mythic-tier skins that come out with every new season, but for now, it seems that grinding out each battle pass remains the easiest way of unlocking them.

Overwatch 2‘s latest season is certainly a big one, not only bringing in the game’s 40th hero in the form of Venture, but also slightly reworking battle pass rewards to include Overwatch Coins. Later on in the month, fans will be able to take part in the limited-time Mirrorwatch event in Overwatch 2, which entertains the concept of Overwatch agents instead working for the Talon organization and vice versa. The battle pass is packed with tons of awesome new cosmetics to fit this theme, with popular members of Overwatch such as Tracer, Reinhardt, and Ana getting their own twisted Talon skins and heroes such as Doomfist and Widowmaker receiving Overwatch-themed looks instead.

Ironically, Overwatch 2’s Season 10: Venture Forth comes with something of a drawback for the most recent addition to the hero roster.

Mythic skins, however, are getting mixed up a little in Overwatch 2‘s tenth season. The game’s shop now features a separate section where players can purchase any Mythic-tier item released for Overwatch 2‘s various characters so far at the cost of a new currency called Mythic Prisms. While most fans had anticipated this new method of unlocking Mythic skins that they had missed out on in the past, excitement has turned to resounding disappointment after players discovered that the cost of 80 Prisms – the amount needed to acquire a fully-upgraded Mythic skin – rounds up to an eye-watering price of $75 USD.

Overwatch 2 Mythic Prism Bundle Prices

  • 10 Mythic Prisms – $9.99 USD
  • 50 Mythic Prisms – $39.99 USD
  • 100 Mythic Prisms – $74.99 USD

While perhaps it’s not too surprising that Overwatch 2‘s premium currency comes at such a high price, it’s still safe to say that previous seasons’ Mythic skins remain to be little more accessible to the average player now than they were previously. Players do have some control over how much they spend on these cosmetics though, with Mythic Prisms being sold in bundles of 10, 50, and 100, and each Mythic requiring a greater investment of Prisms depending on how much players wish to upgrade them.

While many Overwatch 2 players may be upset to learn that the Mythic skin they wanted remains out of their reach, there is still some good news. Up to 80 Prisms can be earned through Overwatch 2‘s current premium battle pass, and while players will still need to fork over 1,000 Overwatch Coins for the premium battle pass – or $9.99 in real money – the overall mechanism to unlock Mythic skins remains mostly unchanged, though players can now decide which one they want to unlock.
