Message from suspect: I tried to assassinate Trump but I let the world down

The documents were released after Ryan Roth appeared before a judge in South Florida, where he was charged with two counts of illegal possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon with a serial number erased, and prosecutors have indicated they intend to seek an additional charge of attempted murder.

Roth, 58, was arrested while trying to flee the stadium in a car. Trump International Golf Championship in West Palm Beach, September 15.

A Secret Service agent shot him after spotting a gun barrel in the trees surrounding the golf course, according to documents the government filed in court.

According to the prosecution document, on Monday, Roth delivered a box to the home of an unidentified person “several months ago” containing ammunition, a metal pipe, building materials, phones and “various letters.”

After learning of the attempt Assassination Supposedly, the witness apparently opened the box and found a letter addressed to “the scientist.”

The message read: “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you. I did my best and gave everything I could. It is now up to you to complete the mission, and I am offering $150,000 to whoever can complete the mission.”

It was not clear whether he was referring to a separate, previous attempt to assassinate Trump or whether he expected the attempt to assassinate Trump on the golf course to be thwarted.

His detention was extended at a hearing Monday in West Palm Beach.

Roth is charged with possession of a weapon with a serial number erased and illegal possession of a weapon, and prosecutors have indicated they intend to add a charge of “attempted assassination,” which would increase his maximum sentence to life in prison.

Trump accused the Justice Department and FBI of “mishandling and downplaying” the golf course incident, believed to be the second assassination attempt on him after a shooting at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in July.

The gunman in the previous case was killed at the scene, and there is no believed to be a link between the incident and the latest plot.

In a written statement from Trump, which appeared to have been prepared before prosecutors indicated they might seek a third charge, he called the indictment a “slap on the wrist.”

In a statement filled with baseless conspiracy theories about his criminal trial, Trump called for Ruth’s case to be referred to state authorities. Florida Run by hard-line Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.

Investigators believe Roth may have been stalking Trump for about 12 hours at the Florida stadium.

He was arrested after police spotted his car driving on a nearby highway.

According to the government, Roth traveled to Florida a month before his arrest, began monitoring the golf course and passed by Trump’s oceanfront home.

In online posts, Roth wrote that he voted for Trump in 2016, but that the former president “has become a disappointment.”

“Everyone in the world, from the youngest to the oldest, knows that Trump is unfit to be anything, let alone President of the United States,” Roth’s letter, the first page of which is pictured in the court papers, said.

“At the very least, US presidents should embody the moral fabric of America, be kind, compassionate, selfless, and always stand up for humanity,” Roth said. “Trump fails to understand any of that.”

Roth’s defense team acknowledged that he had been arrested previously on less serious charges, describing him as a law-abiding citizen with no history of violence.
