Lucas Henveaux will not compete in the long course swimming Euro in June in Belgrade: “I prefer to line up at the Sept Collines meeting in Rome”

The Liégeois spent almost five weeks at altitude in Flagstaff, Arizona, where he did a lot of volume. “I am very happy with this internship! We did a lot of in-depth work to prepare for the second important block of this Olympic year, I have never done so much volume in my life and I reacted very well. I just had a little discomfort in my shoulder which comes back sometimes but it's generally under control”indicates Lucas Henveaux.

“My 200m (1.47.63) and my 400m (3.48.05) were great, these are my best times not being prepared, but my 800m was very bad. I tried a different technique, breathing on the left throughout the race (Editor's note: he always breathed on the right in the endurance events), but I completely broke down in the last lengths of the pool. One more lesson on the road to the Games”smiles Lucas.

Who, given that he only returned Monday and feels relatively tired, due to jet lag, does not expect chronometric wonders this weekend.

Lucas Henveaux has already climbed into the top 5 in the world in the 400m freestyle in Doha: “We continue to work towards the supreme goal, the Paris Olympics”

”I have no particular expectations other than winning as many titles as possible and helping my Liège Natation club in the 4x200m relay. I hope to get good indications from my two main individual racesexplains Lucas. The 800m remains a slightly strange event for me, while my endurance training sessions are going very well. In competition, it’s make or break. The 800m requires a lot of work and I understand that this should not be to the detriment of my 200m and my 400m.”

Free water in Paris?

“Four weeks before the Games, after a more qualitative block of work, it will be the ideal time to see where I am. In addition, it is a perfectly organized meeting where I will be able to swim three or even four events, with the 100m freestyle where I will also register, in three days.”
