Yolo Community Foundation celebrates philanthropy ahead of Big Day of Giving – Daily Democrat

Early giving for the Big Day of Giving kicked off last week with the Yolo Community Foundation’s third annual Yolo Philanthropy Breakfast.

The Yolo Community Foundation provides philanthropic leadership in Yolo County by offering donor-advised funds and other philanthropic vehicles, donates to local nonprofits, fosters volunteerism and supports local giving.

More than 140 community members gathered at the Hotel Winters on April 18 to celebrate philanthropy, open early giving, thank nonprofits for the tremendous work they do to serve Yolo County and honor the spirit of generosity in the community.

The title sponsor was Nugget Market with Davis Wills & Trusts as a supporting sponsor.

The official Big Day of Giving, a 24-hour challenge to support nonprofits in the community, is on May 2. More than 120 Yolo County nonprofits will be participating.

The Big Day of Giving is part of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation’s long-standing initiative to grow local philanthropy. Since 2013, the Big Day of Giving has helped over 800 nonprofits in this region to raise over $91 million from tens of thousands of donors.

Donors can learn about and support the participating Yolo County nonprofits by going to http://www.bigdayofgiving.org/yolocounty now through May 2.

This Big Day of Giving, the Yolo Community Foundation invites the local community to Learn, Share & Give:

  • Learn: Check out the Yolo County Nonprofit Directory, sponsored by Nugget Market – pick up your copy at a Yolo County Nugget store or go to http://bit.ly/2024YoloNonprofitDirectory. Learn why local nonprofits need your support via YCF’s 2024 State of the Yolo Nonprofit Sector Report (http://bit.ly/YCFStateoftheSector2024), made possible by the Teichert Foundation.
  • Share: Share with your network about Yolo nonprofits and the critical role they play in Yolo County. One easy way to do that is with the Yolo BDOG Outreach Toolkit (http://bit.ly/2024YoloBDOGToolkit), generously sponsored by Yolo Federal Credit Union. The toolkit includes graphics, sample emails and social media posts, and other resources to make it easy to advocate for our local nonprofits.
  • Give: Make BDOG donations between now and May 2, at www.bigdayofgiving.org/yolocounty!

“All year long, Yolo-based nonprofits are hard at work, serving our neighbors in need and making Yolo County a better place to live,” said a press release from the Yolo Community Foundation. “Our community returns the favor on Big Day of Giving and, with our donations, helps them continue to thrive.”
