The latest update to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription service lineup has added four games for players to check out, including three titles that were not previously announced. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is, as its name suggests, the ultimate version of Xbox Game Pass. It gives subscribers access to everything available in the other tiers, including PC Game Pass games, along with access to titles in the EA Play library.
Whenever a new game is added to the EA Play library, it becomes available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. This means Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers get to play some of the best games EA has to offer, including some of the newer sports titles by the company. The latest update to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate lineup has given subscribers access to a newer EA Sports title, along with three older EA games.
Xbox Game Pass Confirms Day One Game for May 9
A release date announcement at a competitor’s event confirms a day one game joining Xbox Game Pass on May 9.
As pointed out by Pure Xbox, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has not only added NHL 24 for console gamers, which was previously mentioned as part of the Xbox Game Pass Wave 2 announcement, but it has also added Populous: The Beginning, Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri Planetary Pack, and SimCity 3000 Unlimited for those on PC Game Pass. Since PC Game Pass is a part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate package, those subscribed to the highest tier of Microsoft’s service now have four games to check out. Unfortunately, some individuals are having problems downloading the three PC games, but EA is aware of the problem and will hopefully issue a fix soon.
New Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Games Added Today

NHL 24 is the newest game on the list by a significant margin. Released in October of last year, NHL 24 reviews were admittedly mixed, but it is still the latest NHL game available on home consoles. NHL fans will no doubt be excited about the opportunity to play the game in its entirety through their Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, as opposed to having to purchase it at full price.
The other three games added to the lineup are classic EA titles. Populous: The Beginning is an RTS that was originally released in 1998 to mostly positive reviews, wherein the goal is for the players to become a god. Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri Planetary Pack is a collection of 4X games that combines Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri with the Alien Crossfire expansion, while SimCity 3000 Unlimited is an enhanced version of the city builder game that earned a great deal of critical acclaim at the time of its original release. They should all make great additions to the library once the technical problems keeping some players from playing them are sorted out. Again, these three games are only available to those on PC, whereas NHL 24 is only available to those with Game Pass Ultimate or EA Play on console.
