Women's Tour of Spain: Alison Jackson wins the 2nd stage, Blanka Vas takes the lead

Women's Tour of Spain: despite a fall in the final, Lidl-Trek wins the opening team time trial, Gaia Realini red jersey

Two falls in the last three kilometers made the finish chaotic. Alison Jackson emerged from a reduced sprint to win, at 35, the 10th success of her career. The Canadian beat Blanka Vas and the Dutch Karlijn Swinkels (UAE Team ADQ).

Vas took advantage of the bonuses gained during the intermediate sprint and at the finish to take the overall lead from Gaia Realini, victorious in the opening team time trial with Lidl-Trek. Jackson follows 8 seconds ahead of Italian Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl-Trek), third at 9 seconds.

The 3rd stage will take place on Tuesday between Lucena del Cid and Teruel (130.2 km). The women's Tour of Spain will end on Sunday after the 8th stage in Madrid.

Dutchwoman Annemiek van Vleuten has won the last three editions of the event, which began as a one-day race under the name Challenge by La Vuelta before gradually seeing the number of stages increase.
