Top Division Women: Laure Résimont elected Player of the Year for the third time

In the Euro Cup, the second continental level, Mechelen failed in the first round of the playoffs against the Basques of Gernika. On the European scene, Laure Résimont posted statistics of 14.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists on average.

The native of Deinze receives the title of Player of the Year for the third time, after 2018 and 2019. She succeeds Nastja Claessens on the list. Résimont collected 76 points in the vote, and won ahead of her teammate Heleen Nauwelaers (54 points) and Sam Van Buggenhout of Boom (31 points).

Arvid Diels was elected Coach of the Year for the 4th time, after 2015, 2022 and 2023. He was ahead of Belgian Cats coach Rachid Meziane (26 points) and Frédéric Dusart of Castors Braine (19 points).

Young Cat Pauline Bayart (17 years old) was called upon after her season concluded with 12.7 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists on average. She also succeeds Nastja Claessens on the list.

After the announcement of the winners on Tuesday, the trophies will be distributed during a preparation match for the Belgian Cats for the next Olympic Games in Paris. The initiative comes from Het Nieuwsblad in collaboration with Basketbal Vlaanderen.
