The Lens coach discusses the arrival of Hervé Koffi: “We’ve been following him for four years”

On the RC Lens side, local coach Frank Haise was questioned about the arrival of the Burkinabe international at a press conference. If he did not want to confirm the arrival of Koffi, Haise nevertheless clarified “that he is a good goalkeeper. We’ve been following him for four years.”

Hervé Koffi will join a major French club, his successor already identified?

The transfer of Hervé Koffi to Lensois practically confirms the departure of Brice Samba, who is attracting interest in England and Saudi Arabia. Nevertheless, Frank Haise wants to keep the French international goalkeeper: “Brice (Samba) is our captain and he is happy here. He's a competitor and he expects us to be even better. There is no desire to see Brice leave,” conceding that he could still leave this summer.

In any case, the Lensois absolutely need a new goalkeeper for next season. Even if Samba ultimately stays in the north of France, he will miss the start of the Ligue 1 season after playing Euro 2024 with the Blues. His understudy, Jean-Louis Leca, should join the organization chart of the Lensois club.

”We wanted to strengthen the goalkeeper division. It's not for anything else (that Koffi was recruited, Editor's note). We want a very competitive team from the start of next season,” concluded Haise on the subject.
