The Belgian Falcons broke their Belgian record in the men's 4x100m relay this Sunday in Curaçao

The men's 4x100m relay, made up of Kobe Vleminckx, Ward Merckx, Antoine Snyders and Simon Verhaerstraeten, was particularly impressive with a time of 38.68, synonymous with a Belgian record.

The old benchmark of 38.73 for this team coached by Lieve Van Mechelen had been established (with Robin Vanderbemden in place of Antoine Snyders) during the European Championships in Munich August 19, 2022 where Belgium finished sixth.

At the individual level, Kobe Vleminckx signed, “despite stomach problems”, the best result over 100m, with a time of 10.30 (-0.7 m/s) and a 2nd place behind the Dutchman Hensley Paulina (10.25). Simon Verherstraeten took 3rd place in 10.33. Other results: 10.41 for Valentijn Hoornaert, 10.47 for Jordan Paquot and 10.49 for Emiel Botterman.

45.90 for Vanderbemden

Over 400m, it was Robin Vanderbemden who, in lane 8, set the best time in 45.90 (3rd), the fifth time of his career, Florent Mabille also signing a good individual comeback in 46.10 (5th), his second best personal time.

Double good news for the 4x400m relays who will try to get their qualifying tickets for Paris at the end of the week. It should be noted in this regard that Alexander Doom and Dylan Borlée ultimately did not run.

In the 300m, the neo-Dutchman Eugene Omalla (32.68) beat Christian Iguacel (32.77) and Jonathan Sacoor (32.95).

The women's 4x100m relay, with Delphine Nkansa at the conclusion, recorded a time of 43.30 for the best result in her second race of the day. Bad second handovers involving Rani Rosius suggest significant room for improvement for the team…

At the individual level, it was Lotte Van Lent who established the best Belgian performance in 11.42 (5th; wind: -0.1 m/s), ahead of Janie De Naeyer (11.49), Rani Vincke (11.56) and Elise Mehuys ( 11.67).

Record for Naomi Van den Broeck

In the 400m, Naomi Van den Broeck, second behind Dutchwoman Cathelijn Peeters, stood out by establishing a new personal best in 51.62. The sprinter trained by Carole Bam was at 51.73 since June 2022.

Liefde Schoemaker, for his part, posted a time of 53.62 (10th).

Cynthia Bolingo and Hanne Claes did not race this Sunday on this hard track which puts a lot of strain on the Achilles tendons.

In the 300m, Helena Ponette (37.28) won the event in 37.28, ahead of Imke Vevaet (37.37), Kylie Lambert (37.79) and Camille Laus (37.88).

A 150m was also on the program for Imke Vervaet (5th in 17.51), Naomi Van den Broeck (6th in 17.68) and Kylie Lambert (7th in 17.81). The event was won by Dutchwoman Lieke Klaver in 16.96.
