Tennis: this great competition is changing format again

“Taking into account feedback from players, captains, fans and broadcasters, the final phase of the Billie Jean King Cup 2024 is changing format and replacing its group stage with a knockout table,” explains the ITF.

According to this new format, of the twelve qualified countries (Editor's note: Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Japan, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, United States and Spain), the top four seeds will enter directly into the quarter-finals while the other eight will play in a round of 16. The round of 16 will be played from November 12 to 14, then the quarters (November 15 to 17), the semis (November 18 and 19) and the final on November 20. The draw for this table is scheduled for April 30, as is the draw for the play-offs which concerns Belgium following its defeat against the USA.

Also note that the former Spanish player and Wimbledon winner, Conchita Martinez, will be the director of the final phase of the Billie Jean King Cup: “Every season we see how unique and important this competition is for players and fans. We're ready for another crazy week in November. I can’t wait to welcome the best players in the world to Seville.”
