We’re less than 36 hours away from learning which prospect Tennessee Titans GM Ran Carthon is adding to the roster in the 2024 NFL Draft. Holding the seventh pick in the first round, the Titans are in a strong position to add an elite talent.
Most mock drafts have the Titans standing pat and selecting the top offensive tackle in the 2024 NFL Draft class, Notre Dame’s Joe Alt. This pick makes a lot of sense for a Titans team set to move forward with second-year QB Will Levis since last year’s offensive line faltered often, allowing the fourth-most sacks in the NFL last season.
Pairing Alt with last year’s first-round selection Peter Skoronski, on the left side of the Titans’ line, could work wonders for Brian Callahan’s new offense in Tennessee. But what if the Titans are eyeing another position with the seventh overall pick?
“After spending heavily in free agency and addressing many needs, the one position not addressed by the Titans this offseason was offensive tackle. Look for them to not get cute and take their tackle at No. 7. If the player they want isn’t there, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Titans go wide receiver, understanding that new coach Brian Callahan wants to score points.”

Russini goes on to note that the Titans’ front office “fell in love” with receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. during the NFL Combine, yet odds are the Ohio State superstar won’t be available at seven.
She also cautions against the idea of the Titans taking a wideout in the first round since Titans team president Chad Brinker hails from the Packers’ organization, who hasn’t selected a first-round receiver since 2002.
Still, if the Titans are forced to pivot from taking their perceived top target in Joe Alt, as Russini notes, don’t be surprised if a wide receiver becomes Plan B in Tennessee.
