Tears of the Kingdom Player Builds Neat Fishing Boat

One creative The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player has recently managed to put together an adorable fishing boat. Their cute contraption later made the rounds online, adding to the countless feats of engineering that Tears of the Kingdom fandom has managed to date.

While the Ultrahand power allows players to create a huge assortment of things, boats haven’t been too high up on most fans’ list of building priorities ever since the latest Zelda game hit the store shelves in spring 2023. That’s in no small part because the Tears of the Kingdom building meta largely revolves around flying contraptions, which allow players to conquer any type of terrain and are hence much more universally useful.

In Tears of the Kingdom, players need many different vehicles to get around. And, one of the most common builds will be boats and rafts.

But that hasn’t stopped Reddit user GentleJoh from pondering how to build a cozy fishing boat. They eventually came up with a compact design that is equal parts functional and adorable. The hull they used for their contraption is a unique building component that can only be found on Tenoko Island in the Necluda Sea, located in the southeastern portion of the Tears of the Kingdom Hyrule map. This is widely considered to be the best boat base in the entire game, as it’s extremely buoyant and, contrary to what its wooden texture might suggest, completely resistant to cannons and fire damage.

The boat’s cabin is made of three types of components, including two stone “candles” from the Karahatag Shrine. The pillars rest on a pair of U-shaped blocks that can be found in the Right-Leg Depot of Tears of the Kingdom‘s Construct Factory. An upside-down sled completes the shape of the cabin. Sitting at the top of the captain’s compartment is a Zonai Cannon stuck to a Construct Head. The latter component always turns toward enemies, while the former shoots on sight, with this pairing thus serving as the boat’s defense system.

GentleJoh also put a lot of thought into decorating their compact vessel, as well as creating some equipment that would typically be found on a fishing boat. To that end, they put together a makeshift anchor by fusing a large stone hook to a Zonai sword, all the while adding some hanging fish, barrels, and fishing rod equivalents to complete the design. Their boat also boasts two Zonai Lights sitting at the bow, with a Zonai Fan functioning as a propeller being stuck to the stern.

The contraption elicited praise from some of GentleJoh’s peers, while one fan even used it to highlight how Nintendo missed an opportunity not to include traditional fishing in Tears of the Kingdom. The most recent Zelda game to feature fishing as a mechanic was Twilight Princess HD, released in 2016. Four other entries in the series going back to the 1993 Link’s Awakening have also featured rod fishing.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the sequel to the beloved open-world adventure, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This installment once again sees Link and Zelda battling to protect Hyrule from falling to Ganondorf. This new adventure takes place in the same land of Hyrule as Breath of the Wild but sees something called the Upheaval, which allows link to travel to Sky Islands, as well as deep into the Depths beneath Hyrule. Players can use special abilities to fuse together weapons, and build items to help them progress through the release.
