Starfield Player is Unable to Loot a Dung Pile Due to a Hilarious Glitch

Highlights

  • A Starfield player found a locked dung pile due to glitch – just one of many hilarious bugs in the game.
  • Funnily enough, the player didn’t have any lockpicks, meaning that they weren’t able to see what was in the dung pile.
  • Bethesda faces challenges fixing glitches in Starfield since it’s such a massive game, so it remains to be seen if locked dung piles will remain a problem.

A Starfield player has discovered a locked pile of dung in the game due to a hilarious glitch. While Starfield was one of Bethesda’s most bug-free releases, it’s still a massive game that is prone to weird glitches, and this bug is certainly among the most hilarious ones a gamer can run into.

Starfield was Microsoft’s biggest first-party release in 2023. Despite being available on Game Pass, Starfield became a best-seller on Steam, partly due to being widely praised soon after its release. However, as time passed, many players discovered all sorts of bugs in the space exploration game, ranging from game-breaking to funny glitches.

Starfield Mod Adds Classic Star Wars Ship to the Game

A Starfield modder has brought a beloved ship from the Star Wars prequel trilogy to Bethesda’s massive outer space science fiction RPG.

Now, a Starfield player called InitialPirate1359 discovered a hilarious glitch while exploring a planet in Starfield. They found a pile of monster dung, but could not open it due to it being locked, something that makes no sense considering this is a fully “natural-made” container. To unlock containers in Starfield, players need to use Digipicks, but InitialPirate1359 did not have any of these handy items, and was unable to obtain whatever was inside the dung pile. The bug likely happened because Starfield randomly generates some parts of the game, including what kinds of containers are locked or not. However, it seems that Bethesda did not foresee some of these locked containers being piles of alien monster dung.

Locked Dung Piles Are Only Some of Starfield’s Many Bugs

Starfield has quite a few bugs, but at least most of them are somewhat harmless. For instance, a gamer saw a funny glitch when a ship landed in the water in Starfield earlier this year. The player looked inside the sunken ship and discovered all of its inhabitants trying to swim and hilariously failing at that, as Starfield does not have any actual swimming mechanics for NPCs.

Another curious glitch-related situation happened a few days ago when a player tried to take advantage of a weird Starfield bug while building an outpost. During the construction, one of the walls of the player’s outpost simply vanished into thin air. The player decided to use the opportunity to build a free-floating deck through the then inexistent wall. However, the gamer’s plan backfired when they left the game and loaded it again, as the missing wall had reappeared, blocking off their ingenious deck. Hopefully, Bethesda will keep supporting Starfield and getting rid of these glitches, but the game is enormous, so it’s likely that some of them will never be addressed.
