Highlights

  • Despite delays, fans remain patient as Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to be a popular RPG game with high quality content.

Some Baldur’s Gate 3 fans who are waiting on the arrival of their physical copies of the game’s Deluxe Edition may have to wait longer than expected, as Larian Studios has announced it is experiencing additional production delays for certain regions. The Deluxe Edition copies of Baldur’s Gate 3 had all been originally been announced for the first quarter of 2024, but an earlier round of delays had already pushed it back.

Larian confirmed plans for the Baldur’s Gate 3 Deluxe Edition in February 2023. Available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X (as the Series S is not equipped with a disc reader), and PC, it comes packaged with the physical copy of the game and a whole lot of exclusive merchandise. Following the first set of delays, Larian had made an announcement that copies would start being shipped between April and May, and the company offered an apology to its customers via its official Twitter account.

Larian Studios hypes up its post-Baldur’s Gate 3 plans, confirming that it’s currently working on no fewer than two projects.

Currently, the delays are specifically related to North American orders of the PlayStation 5 version of the Deluxe Edition and worldwide copies of the Xbox Series X version, although there is no delay for PC versions, which have all already been sent out for shipping. Larian stated that the PlayStation 5 versions being sent out to Europe and Oceania would be ship beginning this week, and the company expects all versions of the game across all platforms to be shipped by the end of May.

What Comes In The Baldur’s Gate 3 Physical Deluxe Edition

  • Physical copy of Baldur’s Gate 3 (Console versions only)
  • Steam key for Baldur’s Gate 3 (PC version only)
  • Collector’s box
  • Four-disc soundtrack
  • Flaming Fist and Cult of the Absolute Patches
  • Pack of 32 stickers
  • A 570x690mm mind flayer poster
  • A 600x180mm double-sided world map

The Deluxe Edition, priced at $80, contains a lot of physical bonuses for Baldur’s Gate 3 fans, including a double-sided map, a mind flayer poster, two cloth patches, a sticker pack, and a four-disc soundtrack. It also, of course, comes with a two-disc PS5 or three-disc Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3, or a Steam key for those who purchased it for PC.

Initial responses to the delay announcement on Twitter have been remarkably cordial, and Larian doesn’t seem to have earned the ire of its fans despite not getting the Deluxe Edition into their hands in the timetable that it had initially set for itself. Having earned Game of the Year at The Game Awards this past December, Baldur’s Gate 3 remains an incredibly popular RPG, and the quality of the product that Larian Studios released may account for its fans’ patience with the delays.
