Rebecq relegated to D3, a first descent in the history of the club

A sad reality that the president, Thierry Demolie experiences with a certain bitterness, but also, and paradoxically, as a relief. “We've been suspecting this was going to happen for several weeks.. This does not mean that we did not believe in it until the end and that we did not give ourselves the means to succeed in this rescue mission, but to live in such a situation to hope for week after week, to calculate, to speculating is very complicated and this was felt by everyone within the club. So, ultimately, obviously we are very disappointed, even angry on certain points, but somewhere we are also a little relieved to be fixed on our fate and to be able to work today to rebuild after this rout. Sunday's game ended a bad season, and somehow I'm glad it's over.

A rout which can be explained, again according to the president, by several elements, for which he does not hide, and assumes great responsibility. Whether in terms of recruitment, certain choices and the way things have happened over the last ten months, the strong man of RUS Rebecquoise remains lucid as to the causes of this relegation, despite the fact whether this is a first in the history of the club. “We have just experienced a very complicated season. We saw again in the match against Verlaine that we lacked success, and that was probably our biggest lack this season, but that is not the only explanation. It would be a blind eye to blame everything on success. We were sorely lacking in consistency and this can be explained by a lack of quality and involvement. If everyone had done their job, we certainly wouldn't be here, but that's the way it is. We complied with the new contractual reforms at the start of the season and with these new financial realities, we had to build a core that was undoubtedly a little less qualitative, or at least less broad and in the end, this translates into such results. We made do with what we had at the time, and it wasn't enough. I take full responsibility for it.

What future for RUS Rebecquoise?

According to President Demolie, this relegation will be seen as an opportunity to start from scratch. And not just for the first team, but for an entire club which needs to restructure, to surround itself with new people and to rely on new solid foundations to rebuild a stable and long-term project. A desire for renewal in which President Demolie confirms that he will remain involved, thus taking the opportunity to silence rumors about a potential stoppage or departure for another club. “I think I have to be clear about the situation of the club and my situation within it. I have been involved with Rebecq for fifteen years and if today I decide to take a small step back, it is not to devote my time and energy to another club. I only have one club, it is and will remain Rebecq. That being said, it's true that I plan to take a step aside and surround myself with people I trust to manage more of the daily tasks of the club, mainly at the administrative level. But that doesn't mean I'm stopping, on the contrary. I would like to surround myself to free up more time and devote myself to more strategic tasks for the club and its future, such as the development of facilities, sponsorship, and the restructuring of a complete organizational chart for the entire club. . With that clarified, I can indeed say that we will use this relegation as an opportunity to start something new. A different project, just as competitive, because I remain someone who likes competition and who always wants to do better, but a project constructed in a different way. We must learn from our mistakes and rebuild ourselves and this is the work started today.
