Pokemon GO Confirms Rotom Form for GO Fest

Highlights

  • Heat Rotom is coming to Pokemon GO Fest, where players can encounter it in the game through a surprise encounter feature.
  • The addition of Heat Rotom follows the trend of Rotom and its different forms being added to the game during Pokemon GO Fests.
  • Players who don’t attend in-person events may not have a chance to catch Heat Rotom, but details may be clarified closer to the dates.

Pokemon GO has officially teased the addition of Heat Rotom to the game for the upcoming GO Fest. Pokemon GO Players will be able to encounter and catch the Pokemon in the near future.

Pokemon GO is gearing up to run its next GO Fest events. Starting in May, the game will host a GO Fest in Sendai, Japan, then Madrid, Spain, and finally New York City, New York. As with last year’s event, worldwide Pokemon GO Fest event will also be held following the three in-person events.

Pokemon GO is bringing back its annual Sustainability Week event to celebrate Earth Day 2024 with a bunch of new challenges and bonuses.

Now, official Pokemon GO channels have confirmed that Heat Rotom will be coming to the game for the Pokemon GO Fest. Those attending the GO Fest in any of the three major locations will be able to have a chance to encounter Heat Rotom through the GO Snapshot function. For those not familiar, during certain events, Pokemon can effectively photobomb a player while they’re snapping pictures in Pokemon GO‘s Snapshot mode. After the photobomb takes place, the Pokemon will appear on the world map, giving the player a chance to catch it.

This addition continues the trend of Rotom and its various forms joining the game during Pokemon GO Fests. Starting back in 2020, Wash Rotom, Mow Rotom, Frost Rotom, and earlier this year, standard Rotom and its Shiny variant were added to the game during Pokemon GO Fests. Following Heat Rotom’s addition, Fan Rotom will be the only variant left to be added to the mobile title.

Unfortunately, Pokemon GO hasn’t yet specified if players who don’t attend the in-person Pokemon GO Fest will get a chance to catch Heat Rotom. Given that the tweet is specifically addressing those attending the physical locations, it seems unlikely that’s the case. As the dates for the events draw closer, this will likely be cleared up, but players who attend the worldwide event probably shouldn’t expect it to make an appearance.

The Current State of Pokemon GO

Although many fans are still enjoying their AR adventures in Pokemon GO, the game hasn’t been without troubles. The most recent of these is the new change to Pokemon GO players’ trainer avatars. The system received an overhaul, but many fans have been displeased and outspoken about it, pointing out the problems with the new version. Fans are currently upset that the avatars are too androgynous, middle skin tones have been eliminated, and overall, many players seem to simply find them ugly. Unfortunately, many of these issues were raised in March when the change was added to the beta version of Pokemon GO, but it seems the response didn’t lead to any major changes to it before being launched worldwide.
