In a recent Twitter post, leaker Radec shared a screenshot of a now-deleted Instagram post from DJ Akademiks that hints the next PlayStation Showcase event could take place next week. As per the post caption visible in the screenshot, artist Kendrick Lamar can’t release another track, expected to be the next chapter in his feud with fellow rapper Drake, until Sony’s PlayStation Showcase event wraps up in the coming week. This restriction is allegedly due to a “marketing deal” that the musician has in place with Sony.
PlayStation Showcase Could Happen Next Week
While the rumor may not have come from a regular source of gaming leaks, the fact that the reported source, DJ Akademiks, is a notable name in the music industry gives this rumor considerable weight. If the rumor is true, it would mean that Sony will organize the event slightly earlier, in mid-May, compared to last year when PlayStation Showcase 2023 streamed near the end of the month on May 24.
