We’re not far from learning who the Philadelphia Eagles are adding to their roster in the 2024 NFL Draft. There’s a new NFL mock draft every day, suggesting who Eagles general manager Howie Roseman should select with Philadelphia’s first-round pick.

Yet, when you’re selecting 22nd as the Eagles are, knowing what to expect so late in the first round becomes a tiring procedure.

However, the Eagles could take matters into their own hands by trading up to ensure they land one of their top draft targets.

According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Eagles could get aggressive during Day 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft.

“Be ready for “Houdini Howie.” A league source said the Eagles have called to move up from No. 22. Howie Roseman is on the hunt for a cornerback.”

While Darius Slay and James Bradberry return as the Eagles’ starting cornerback tandem, both are over 30 years old and are under contract only through the 2025 season. Adding a top prospect now gives the veteran playmakers a chance to coach up the young player before he’s asked to fill a major role on defense.

Yet, if the Eagles really can add one of the top cornerback prospects in the NFL Draft, it’s possible someone like Bradberry already concedes playing time to the rookie, depending on their ability to adjust to the pros.

Some of the prospects who the Eagles could be targeting include Alabama’s Kool-Aid McKinstry or Terrion Arnold, Clemson’s Nate Wiggins, Iowa’s Cooper DeJean, or Toledo’s Quinyon Mitchell. All have been frequently projected to become first-round picks on Thursday.
