Within the peloton, different profiles. Students and non-students. Most often they come for the simple pleasure of sharing a sporting moment, for a good cause what's more.
In front, it was Guillaume Darquenne, one week before a marathon in Hamburg which he hopes to complete under 2h30, who won without having to force it, in 32.34.
“Very nice course but rather rough”, he told us on arrival. “I ran alone from start to finish, but with a good tempo.”
Fifty seconds behind, we found Pieter Cardinael: “I train here twice a week. It’s a pleasure to run at home, on this varied course which allows you to talk about qualities other than speed.”
Among the ladies, success went to Lutgard Goethals, in 38.02. “I was cold but the sensations were good”, she smiled upon arrival. “I just came here to have fun for this first participation in this race.”
In the 5 km, which attracted just over 350 participants, it was the Frenchman Joan Pfohl who won, in 16'37 and almost 30 seconds ahead of his runner-up Jordan Sita-Kianzambi.
“I really came to get the place and so I’m happy to win here”, he commented upon arrival. “My girlfriend is studying in Brussels and so I took the opportunity to come. I discovered the Bois de la Cambre. I do not regret.”
Tatiana Stellian, for her part, achieved success over this short distance, in 18.41.
