Lando Norris' refreshing victory: “I've made so many blunders since I started”

Twenty loops later, after fifteen podiums and 109 GPs, the McLaren driver finally won his first victory in F1: “Wooooooow, he exclaimed on the radio during his victory lap. Thank you all, I love you.”

A different and refreshing success for an exciting GP with twists and turns. We have rarely seen a winner so congratulated by his peers: from Lewis Hamilton to Fernando Alonso, George Russell, the Ferrari drivers and of course his great friend in F1 Max Verstappen, all came to congratulate the 24-year-old Briton, a favorite of the public and especially young ladies all “in love” of the Kid from Bristol since his appearances in “Drive to Survive” on Netflix. A careful popularity on social networks where he shares his joie de vivre and cultivates his super fun side. Between Shanghai and Miami, the kid, for example, returned to Europe to attend a concert in Amsterdam by his friend, DJ Martin Garrix, an event where he suffered a nose injury (this explains his little sparadra) following a slight accident.

Donald Trump lucky charm

”I finally have this first victoryexclaimed the driver linked to McLaren and his manager Zak Brown until 2027. Thanks to the whole team. Here I had a single-seater with a multitude of upgrades and it paid off. We were really very fast even if the safety car exit worked in my favorhe declared after receiving a hug from former President of the United States Donald Trump. He came to our garage just before the race where we were introduced. He told me he brought me luck. I hope he comes to other GPs… Lando laughed, admitting: I've made a lot of mistakes since I started in F1 five years ago. Today I managed to put everything together. That feels good. I have always believed in this team and today I prove that I was right. The best is yet to come.”

”I had no luck with the safety car coming out after my stop, but my Red Bull wasn't running well here anyway and Lando was extremely fast this weekend, commented three-time champion Max Verstappen. I'm very happy that it was him who beat me today. He’s my friend and he deserves it.”

McLaren at the party

We bet that the two friends have celebrated or will celebrate this great first together. F1 took a breath of fresh air in Miami with this surprise victory for Lando Norris and, let's not forget, the excellent start of his teammate Oscar Piastri, alongside Verstappen and ahead of the Ferraris. during the first part of the race before being pushed by Carlos Sainz, having to change his nose and setting the fastest lap in the race. After Ferrari, McLaren comes to join the party. The season may not be over yet.
