“Racist and hateful speech is absolutely unacceptable and must be strongly condemned,” general manager Erik Gerits said on the club website. “Genk will press charges and hope that the perpetrators will be quickly arrested. We will continue to draw attention to these regrettable incidents for as long as they occur.”
Arriving from RWDM in September, El Ouahdi, 22, joined the Genk eleven after the departure of Daniel Munoz for Crystal Palace in January. His forward projections were valuable for his club, which won three of its first four meetings in the Champions Playoffs. Against Anderlecht, El Ouahdi assisted on Tolu Arokodare's opening goal.
