How to Kill Canine for Challenges

Quick Links

In Fallout 76, there are many different challenges that you can complete, some that are daily, some that are weekly, and so on. A lot of these will require you to defeat different enemies, such as Blood Eagles, Lesser Devils, and even Canines, which includes dogs and the mutated Mongrels.

Though some might find it difficult to take down these guys, they are usually quite vicious, so you’ll most likely have to defeat a Mongrel or two anyway. There are certain areas where you can find dogs and Mongrels in the game, so we will show you the best locations to complete the challenge.

Mongrels are a type of mutated dog, which means they fall under the category of canines. These creatures are almost always incredibly aggressive, and will essentially look like a malnourished dog. Defeating these or some Mutant Hounds will allow you to complete daily and weekly challenges that require you to sometimes kill up to 50 Canines.

Aaronholt Homestead

Directly north of Vault 76, and not too far from Tyler County Fairgrounds and Clancy Manor, you can find Aaronholt Homestead. When you arrive here, follow the road up to the small house. Outside, you’ll find a few Mongrels wandering around.

Sylvie & Sons Logging Camp

To find this spot, make your way to the northeastern section of the map. You’ll find Sylvie & Sons Logging Camp west of Dolly Sods Wilderness, and south of Hopewell Cave. When you arrive here, you’ll find a few Mongrels surrounding the camp’s tents.

There are many dogs that you can find in Fallout 76, some being friendly and possibly tameable, while others will serve the Blood Eagles or Mutant Fighters and will attack you repeatedly. We will specifically be looking for Mutant Hounds, as there are areas where many of them can spawn.

West Tek Research Center

To find this area, check the southeastern section of the map. You’ll find West Tek Research Center east of Emmett Mountain Disposal Site, and west of Kerwood Mine. In this big facility, you’ll find a bunch of Mutant Hounds outside, as well as a few inside the building too. There will be a lot of Super Mutant Fighters here, and different variants of the Mutant Hound, including a Glowing Mutant Hound.

Federal Disposal Field HZ-21

To locate this spot on the map, make your way to the southeastern portion. You’ll find Federal Disposal Field HZ-21 south of R&G Processing Services, and east of Hornwright Estate, where you can also find some fusion cores and power armor. When you arrive, you’ll find some Fierce Mutant Hounds near the center of the disposal field, so make sure to equip a Hazmat Suit to protect against radiation.
