In Pokemon GO, many players find enjoyment in hunting down rare Pokemon, such as specimens with strong IVs for battling, event only Pokemon, or even shinies.

Among the numerous Pokemon available in the game, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, and Hitmontop are a Fighting Type evolution line that all have shiny variants. For this reason, knowing how to obtain them can come in handy and enable you to prepare for your shiny hunt in advance, making the process as smooth as possible.

Pokemon GO players looking to obtain shiny Hitmonlee, Hitmontop, or Hitmonchan will often be looking to prepare ahead of time, so knowing the best ways to hunt for these Pokemon can certainly come in handy. Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, and Hitmontop are all available as wild encounters and have previously been featured in Raids. In the case that any of these Pokemon make a return in specific Raid events, this can be a brilliant way to shiny hunt, as they tend to offer better shiny rates than general wild encounters – usually offering a one in ten opportunity for encountering a shiny variant.

The second way to obtain these Pokemon in shiny form is to obtain a shiny Tyrogue, and then evolve it. In Pokemon GO, Tyrogue can usually only be obtained from Eggs during various limited-time events. Because of this, obtaining shiny Tyrogue may be more difficult, but if there is the chance to hatch one through an event in which it receives boosted hatch rates or shiny rates, then it can be a good idea to make the most of this opportunity.

Lastly, the third way in which you can obtain shiny variants of Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, or Hitmontop, is through events that provide increased spawn rates for these Pokemon. An example of this is the 2024 May 7 Spotlight Hour event, which presented significant increases in the wild spawns of both Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan. While it’s true that Spotlight Hour events do not boost base shiny rates, the more frequent appearances of these Pokemon provide players with the opportunity to meet these lucky odds and score a shiny encounter.
