How to Complete All Rising Tide Side Quests (The End Can Wait Trophy)

Quick Links

Unlike the first DLC expansion for Final Fantasy 16, The Rising Tide provides players with a number of side quests to go alongside its three-hour main story. There are eleven of them in total, though, for whatever reason, players will only need to complete ten Mysidian quests to unlock the “The End Can Wait” Trophy.

With the second piece of FF16 DLC costing twice as much as the first, prospective players may want to know how long it takes to beat The Rising Tide.

Not all of the Rising Tide side quests are available right away, with some tied to main story progress and others requiring players to complete other side quests before they can be unlocked. This guide will explain how to unlock and complete all of the DLC side quests in Final Fantasy 16 and the rewards for completing them.

It’s the Thought that Counts

It’s the Thought that Counts becomes available immediately after players have arrived in Haven and can be triggered by speaking with a woman named Wyrda. She’ll ask Clive to grab some flower baskets for her husband, Pavaat, who just so happens to be the local blacksmith. Doing so will reward players with the Reflection of Earth (Titanic Block) accessory and also grant access to Haven’s foundry.

The Pursuit of Knowledge

The Pursuit of Knowledge can also be triggered after players have arrived in Haven for the first time. To do so, they should speak with Bilos, the father of the family that’s in charge of Haven’s stores. He’ll ask Clive to help track down his daughter Ruqa, who can be found by exiting Haven via the southern gate and then taking the first left to the River’s Edge area. Completing the quest will reward players with the Ageless Tallow crafting component and also grant access to Haven’s shop.

Bird of Passage

The Bird of Passage side quest becomes available after Shula takes Clive and the party to see Walja at The Surge. To get started, players should speak with Manda at the Haven stables and then head over to the stores to speak with her father. From there, players will need to fast travel to Martha’s Haven and speak with Rowan to get a couple of Mimmet Gourds. Then, they’ll simply need to meet with Manda’s father at the campsite near Northridge to turn in the quest, which will unlock the ability to summon Ambrosia in Mysidia.

What Ails You

What Ails You is another Rising Tide side quest that becomes available after players visit The Surge. It can be triggered by talking to Fanet in Haven and requires Clive and the party to head to the Altar in the Father’s Fell area and defeat a group of Tonberries. After doing so, players can return to Fanet to turn in the quest, which will reward them with the Serpent Ring Design Draft and the Adder Stone, the latter of which can be used to find pieces of Aquamarine for crafting.

Roles of Honor

Players can start the Roles of Honor side quest by speaking with a man named Qatav in Haven at any point after Clive and the party’s first interaction with Walja. To complete it, they’ll need to look for someone named Nasef in the area north of the village. After examining the first two cairns, they’ll be directed toward a third one in Riversmeet, where they’ll find Nasef being attacked by some fiends. Once they’ve been taken care of, players can return to Haven and speak with Qatav and Nasef, who’ll reward them with a Silver Penning.

The Uninvited Guest

The Uninvited Guest can be triggered by speaking with a woman named Jamila near the bridge in Haven. She’ll ask Clive to search for an intruder on the Cloak, which means heading out of the village’s south gate. After following the path a little, players will find a small bottle of wine, which prompts a short chase scene. Players will then need to slay the beasts to save the hapless intruder, who turns out to be Jamila’s lover, Herve. From there, all that’s left to do is return to Haven and turn in the quest, which will reward players with an Ageless Millet.

Beyond the Grave

To start the Beyond the Grave side quest, players will need to speak with a woman named Dalina, who can be found outside the Witanhall in Haven. She’ll ask Clive and the party to clear a path to the Witch’s Grave, which is in the Witchdrop area northeast of the Riversmeet Obelisk. After slaying some fiends and making their way to the grave, players will be rewarded with a Silver Penning.

Lost in the Woods

Lost in the Woods becomes available after completing Roles of Honor and can be triggered by speaking with a little boy named Ayrik in the center of Haven. He’ll tell Clive about a dangerous fiend, which leads players to the Swiftrun area. There, they’ll need to slay an Archelon then head north to the Sunken Ruins for a fight with the Thalaos Notorious Mark. After defeating this powerful fiend, players can report back to Ayrik to receive a piece of Orichalcum.

Reign of Pain

Reign of Pain can be triggered by speaking with Fanet in Haven after completing What Ails You and The Uninvited Guest. Following the conversation, players will need to defeat a group of Tonberries outside the village’s southern gate and then make their way to the Path of Corruption area of the Cloak. There, they’ll face off against the Tonberry King Notorious Mark, after which, they can return to Fanet to receive another piece of Orichalcum.

Last Licks

Players will be able to start the Last Licks side quest by speaking with Shula outside the Witanhall in Haven after turning in The Uninvited Guest. To complete the quest, players will first need to make their way to Father’s Fell and kill some Ibex, then look for some Locco Weed near the Dark Gate. From there, they should head to the temple ruins and lay the bait in the area to the northwest of the Maiden’s March Obelisk, which will summon a Guivre. It’s then just a simple matter of slaying the beast and speaking with Jamila in Haven to turn in the quest, for which players will receive the Reflection of Darkness (Arm of Darkness) accessory as a reward.

The Water of Life

The Water of Life is the last Rising Tide side quest and only becomes available once players have completed the previous ten. To get the ball rolling, players will need to talk to Shula down by the water in Haven. She’ll ask Clive to gather three vials of holy water from the Maiden’s March, Riversmeet, and Tailwind Bay areas. With the exception of Maiden’s March, which requires players to take down an angry Temple Coeurl and a few elemental Bombs, this is all relatively straightforward. Once they’ve gathered the water, players can return to the Witanhall to watch the ceremony, after which, they’ll receive the First Rain Talisman: a Curiosity that can be displayed on the the wall in Clive’s chambers.
