Honkai: Star Rail‘s Penacony arc has reached a crescendo at the end of the current update’s story, so there’s a lot of anticipation about what’s going to happen in Version 2.2. The Astral Express Crew might be close to solving the mysteries surrounding the Planet of Festivities, and Honkai: Star Rail fans are reportedly in for a treat in the upcoming version update.

There had been Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 leaks teasing some new features, combat mechanics, and character reruns. HoYoverse hasn’t confirmed the leaks, as it always reveals new features in Special Program streams, so take the information with a grain of salt.

Honkai Star Rail Leak Reveals Version 2.2 Reruns

Character Reruns

Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 will be the debut of 5-star banner characters Robin and Boothill. According to a leak from Somnus, the Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 banner will include reruns for Topaz and Fu Xuan or Argenti. The rerun characters could still change leading up to the release of Version 2.2.

First phase

Robin (Physical, Harmony) and Topaz (Fire, The Hunt)

Second phase

Boothill (Physical, The Hunt) and Fu Xuan (Quantum, Preservation) / Argenti (Physical, Erudition)

The Version 2.2 banner is also interesting because Honkai: Star Rail has not revealed a new 4-star character. There are rumors that it might be Firefly, but it seems unlikely since she was revealed to be the Stellaron Hunter Sam, who was once rumored to be a future 5-star. Some fans believe that if Honkai: Star Rail doesn’t reveal the character soon, there likely won’t be a 4-star banner character for Version 2.2, which would make this the first update without one.

Trailblazer’s Harmony Form

The protagonist, known as the Trailblazer, currently has two forms: Destruction (Physical) and Preservation (Fire). Recent Honkai: Star Rail leaks suggest that Trailblazer’s Harmony form might debut in Version 2.2. According to prominent leaker Dimbreath, Trailblazer’s third form will be an Imaginary unit that can provide stat buffs to allies. Some leaked clips and splash art also show the Trailblazer sporting a stylish hat and posing with Penacony’s mascot, Clockie.

In Jarilo-VI, the Trailblazer received their alternate Preservation form toward the end of their journey. With the Harmony Trailblazer allegedly coming out soon, this could signal the conclusion of the Penacony arc.

Toughness Mechanic and New Damage Type

Honkai: Star Rail leaks point to a new toughness mechanic, which will add multiple layers of toughness to some enemies. According to a leaked description from HomDGCat, Weakness Break Effect will only be triggered when every toughness layer has been broken. This new mechanic will make battles more challenging, and might force many players to be more strategic with their team comps.

Along with the toughness mechanic, Honkai: Star Rail is also introducing super break damage, which will be exclusive to the Harmony Trailblazer. According to Dimbreath’s leak, super break damage will have higher Break Effect and toughness-reducing DMG. It will be interesting to see how these new combat mechanics will shake up Honkai: Star Rail‘s meta.

Light Cones

According to leaks, Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 will introduce four new Light Cones, with some complementing the new characters. The 5-star variants are Flowing Nightglow, a Harmony Light Cone for Robin, and Sailing Towards a Second Life, a The Hunt Light Cone for Boothill.

Additionally, Honkai: Star Rail will reportedly give out a free 4-star Harmony Light Cone called For Tomorrow’s Journey. The second 4-star Light Cone coming out in Version 2.2 is Boundless Choreo, which is said to be for Nihility characters, like Acheron and Black Swan.

  • Flowing Nightglow (5-star Harmony): The wearer gains 1 stack of Cantillation every time any ally attacks. Each stack of Cantillation increases the wearer’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 3%, up to 5 stacks. When the wearer uses their Ultimate, removes Cantillation and gains Cadenza. Cadenza increases the Wearer’s ATK by 48% and the team’s DMG dealt by 24%, lasting for 1 turn(s).
  • Sailing Towards a Second Life (5-star The Hunt): Increases the wearer’s Break Effect by 60% and Break DMG dealt by the wearer ignores 20% of the target’s DEF. When the wearer’s Break Effect in battle is at 150% or greater, increase their SPD by 12%.
  • For Tomorrow’s Journey (4-star Harmony): Increases the wearer’s ATK by 16%. When the wearer uses their Ultimate, increases the DMG dealt by 18%, lasting for 1 turn(s).
  • Boundless Choreo (4-star Nihility): Increase the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 8%. The wearer deals 24% more CRIT DMG to enemies that are currently DEF reduced or Slowed.
