Ho to Store Power Armor in Fallout 76

Power Armor, the protective, mechanized suits of armor, are some of the most iconic objects in both Fallout 76, and the entire Fallout franchise as a whole. Because of this, it is hardly surprising that the game features a massive variety of Power Armor suits for players to find and wear. And while these suits offer a great deal of protection, there is no doubt that their considerable weight can become a hindrance. This leads many players to wonder: where do I store Power Armor in Fallout 76?

Storing Power Armor in Fallout 76 is much like storing anything else. However, there is a simple trick that players can use to maximize efficiency. This guide will explain how players can use Power Armor chassis to store the extremely heavy Power Armor parts, saving room in personal inventory and stash boxes alike.

Player vendors can turn a dusty old Fallout 76 CAMP into a high-traffic trading depot, but what are the best items to sell in them?

How to Store Power Armor in Fallout 76

FO76-PA-Stash

Storing Power Armor in Fallout 76 can be accomplished in several ways. The easiest way, is to simply place the various objects into a Stash Box, and call it a day. Players will quickly learn, however, that this method is not practical in the long term. With a weight limit of 1200, the Stash Box quickly fills, and soon enough, players will be looking for which items they should delete. While, to some degree, this will always be a problem players will face in Fallout 76, there is a way to make Power Armor storage less of an issue.

The key to storing Power Armor in Fallout 76 is collecting Power Armor chassis. Players will know that these are the essential frames that a set of Power Armor is built around. On their own, they weigh 10 pounds. And they stay at 10 pounds in player inventory, regardless of the weight of individual Power Armor pieces. For example, a full set of T-45 Power Armor can way over 50 pounds when the individual pieces are weighed. But when they are mounted on a chassis, the whole set will never weigh more than 10 pounds.

Players should consider collecting multiple chassis, as they can make Power Armor storage much more tenable. Fallout 76 features a wide variety of Power Armor types, so players will want to have them stored on a chassis, not loose.

Power Armor Storage Steps:

  • Collect a Power Armor chassis from the world of Fallout 76.
  • Return to camp, or location like the Whitespring Resort, with access to Stash Boxes.
  • If carrying the chassis, open the Pip-Boy and select the chassis from the Armor tab. Place the chassis into the world. If in the chassis, hold X/A to exit.
  • Use the Transfer prompt to place any loose Power Armor pieces from the Stash Box or personal inventory onto the chassis. Press Triangle/Y to collect the chassis back into your inventory.
  • Return the chassis into your Stash Box, saving an immense amount of storage space.

Players can carry as many chassis as they want in their inventory. New players may want to carry only one to save space. Consider using the

perk

to significantly reduce the weight of all Power Armor pieces, including the chassis.

Where to Find Power Armor Chassis in Fallout 76

Power Armor chassis are essential for players looking to use and store multiple sets of Power Armor. The early-game goal should be at least 5 chassis. This will allow players to store the many Power Armor pieces they get through FO76‘s event rewards or exploration.

Chassis can usually be found in industrial locations, such as mines and factories. Red Rocket gas stations are another location that often has chassis sitting in Power Armor stations free for the taking. Raider and Blood Eagles camps will often have full or partial suits sitting somewhere in the camp. Keep an eye out, as the chassis can be more useful than many of the pieces on them.

Remember, Power Armor chassis require a

to run. Fusion Cores can be found throughout Appalachia, often plugged into generators that are found near just about every POI. The above image features the exact generator players should look out for. Many chassis will have a Fusion Core included, in that case, simply enter.
