The native of Uccle finished in 11th place with a total of 51.932 points. Belgium finished 9th (151.730 pts) and will not enter the final.

“On each apparatus, I gave the best of myself, I did what I had to do”, commented, at the end of her beautiful day, Maëllyse Brassart, who had previously failed to qualify for Paris via the World Cup circuit. “I obviously felt a lot of stress before this event, especially Wednesday evening, but this Thursday morning I got up and immediately put myself in the right mood.”
From the outset, the best of our three generalists got off to a good start in her competition, with a good jump (13,100 pts) then some good bars (13,533 pts). On the beam, Maëllyse Brassart then totaled 12.933 points, for the third time the best score of the Belgians entered, before returning a score of 12.366 points for her floor.
Not knowing if her score, fifth overall after three of the four subdivisions, would prove sufficient until the end of the program, she then had to be patient during this “very long day”.
But the main thing for Maëllyse Brassart (who will be first reserve on the beam and second reserve on the uneven bars in Rimini) is therefore acquired in the form of this second consecutive qualification for the Olympic Games.
