End of suspense? This Friday, May 3 evening, the presidential party finally revealed the outlines of the list which will defend the colors of the majority in the upcoming European elections. The first thirty names were thus made official by Renaissance… before presenting its program on Monday May 6, on the eve of a national meeting at the Mutualité, in Paris, where the Macronist leader for the June 9 election next Valérie Hayer. Behind the latter, outgoing MEPs Bernard Guetta (Renaissance), Marie-Pierre Védrenne (MoDem) and Pascal Canfin (Renaissance) complete the leading quartet of the “Need for Europe” majority list.

The former head of the list in 2019 Nathalie Loiseau occupies fifth place, ahead of MEPs Sandro Gozi, nominated on behalf of the MoDem, and Fabienne Keller (Renaissance), at the top of the table in a list marked, in its first thirty names, by the renewal of numerous leavers. Note also that the majority list welcomes Grégory Allione, director of the National School of Fire Officers, in 8th position. Other candidates from civil society: Sylvie Gustave-dit-Duflo, president of the Board of Directors of the French Biodiversity Office (15th), and lawyer Rachel-Flore Pardo (21st).
“ It is a list of personalities of experience and competence, elected officials who will be immediately effective for France to have influence in Europe. A list which also reflects the unity of the majority and its expansion “, campaign director Pieyre-Alexandre Anglade told Agence France Presse (AFP). The centrist party UDI – which has formed an alliance with the majority for these European elections – will be represented, in 11th position, by Valérie Devaux, deputy mayor of Amiens, and by James Chéron, mayor of Monterault-Fault-Yonne (Seine -et-Marne), in 28th position. For his part, the president of the Radical Party Laurent Hénart appears in 16th place.

Horizons will be represented by the former Minister for European Affairs Nathalie Loiseau and Gilles Boyer – both outgoing MEPs –, the former Secretary of State Bérangère Abba (17th), and Xavier Fournier (24th), deputy mayor of Guérande . The party by Édouard Philippe thus obtained an exception to the rule decreed by Pieyre-Alexandre Anglade, according to which those defeated in the 2022 legislative elections would not be invested… And for good reason, Bérangère Abba was beaten in the last legislative elections in Haute-Marne.
Other applications to highlight? The general secretary of the MoDem group in the National Assembly, Séverine de Compreignac, is in 19th position, ahead of the president of Youth with Macron, Ambroise Méjean, and the mayor of Bonifacio, Jean-Charles Orsucci. The president of Renaissance en Seine-Saint-Denis, Shannon Seban, occupies 25th place.

The majority list is clearly behind in the polls voting intention by that of the National Rally (RN), led by the president of the far-right party, Jordan Bardella. In the daily Ifop survey for LCI, Le Figaro and Sud Radio published Friday May 3, the RN list collects 31.5%, compared to 16.5% for the list of Valerie Hayerfollowed by the PS-Place Publique list led by Raphaël Glucksmann (13.5%).
