GTA 6’s Setting Means One Feature Must Be Deeper Than It Was In GTA 5

Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 6 has been surrounded by huge waves of hype for years, and this has only accelerated since the end of last year. Judging from Grand Theft Auto 6‘s first reveal trailer in December 2023, the forthcoming iteration of the acclaimed crime series looks to be, as expected, more expansive and bombastic than ever. GTA 6 has a lot to live up to, and Rockstar has proven multiple times that it can handle the challenging task of improving each game in myriad ways.

Grand Theft Auto‘s absolutely massive and meticulously detailed settings have long been one of its benchmarks. GTA 5‘s Los Santos and its neighboring regions were a marvel of open-world design, utilizing high-end graphical capabilities with the studio’s art and design talents in inspiring ways. Grand Theft Auto 6 will return to Vice City, in the Flordia-inspired state of Leonida, on the East Coast, as opposed to GTA 5‘s San Andreas. As perhaps the series’ most vibrant location, and in keeping with the spirit of the city and the technical leaps GTA 6 will likely be supporting, the sixth entry should offer a much bigger breadth of water-based aspects and activities.

GTA Fans Call for Grand Theft Auto 6 to Add New Car Feature

Fans are expressing their wishlist for Grand Theft Auto 6, with one standout desire being the integration of an intriguing car feature.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Should Have the Most Expansive Range of Boats and Other Watercraft

There have been a range of drivable boats and related vehicles like jet skis in previous Grand Theft Auto titles to various degrees. However, a much wider variety of watercraft seems almost necessary given the specifics of GTA 6‘s location. They would potentially provide more customization options in GTA 6, and fit extremely well with the vibe and sense of style found in the series and especially Vice City. Other possibilities like surfing, wakeboarding, or parasailing would be fun and fantastic inclusions, too.

How Grand Theft Auto 6 Could Incorporate More Aquatic-Based Missions and Activities

Grand Theft Auto 6‘s narrative angles will be another major factor in how it could incorporate more water-centric activities and moments. Cinematic chase segments and firefights on the waterways will almost assuredly appear in setpiece missions and scenes. Given all the varied mini-games seen in GTA previously as well, related aquatic-based side activities have more potential than ever in the next title. Whether they might be in the form of swimming/speedboat challenges and/or races, these and others along the same lines would also be excellent inclusions.

There is, of course, a whole underwater world players could literally dive into, and the potential for the immersion this would add is high, perhaps even flowing into other gameplay benefits.

GTA 5 saw players acquire a submarine and plumb the watery depths to a limited degree. GTA 6 could vastly expand on similar diving mechanics and undersea exploration as a natural progression in Vice City.

On top of being able to cruise around the coast in a variety of cool vehicles, there are opportunities for underwater areas to contain things like sunken hideouts or stashes and encounters with exotic aquatic wildlife, not to mention all manner of Easter eggs and strange secrets that Rockstar often includes, many of which could be hidden in the murky depths for curious and dedicated fans to unearth. With GTA 6 set to bring the franchise into its next era, this evolution should come with a treasure trove of ocean/water mechanics and adjacent features to complement its return to Vice City, and hopefully, fans can expect some excellent additions in this area.
