The joy of Yannick Lefèbvre and Jan Heuninck…

“We haven’t been sailing together for very long”explained Yannick Lefèbvre. “We lost two months, in February and March, because Jan broke his foot, but we were quite calm. We tried to build on the fundamentals and be fresh for the regattas. It's fantastic !”

And as good news never comes alone, Lucas Claeyssens and Eline Verstraelen also qualified their boat, a Nacra 17, for the Olympic meeting. The mixed duo was, in fact, ranked third in the final, at the end of the last regatta.

Two other Belgian crews also took part in the event: Arthur De Jonghe and Janne Ravelingien finished in fourth place while Kwinten Borghijs and Lieselotte Borghijs came in eighth position.

Yannick Lefèbvre and Jan Heuninck (49er) as well as Lucas Claeyssens and Eline Verstraelen (Nacra 17) join Emma Plasschaert (ILCA 6) and Isaura Maenhaut / Anouk Geurts (49er) who were already assured of their Olympic participation while there are also a quota place, in the ILCA 7 category, obtained by William De Smet.
