The Dutchwoman Riejanne Markus (Visma-Lease a Bike) tried her luck 5 km from the line. She approached the Wall (1.3 km at 9.7%) with around fifteen seconds ahead of the peloton.

Title holder, Demi Vollering dictated the tempo from the foot of the climb, eliminating all her opponents one by one. Only Niewiadoma and Longo Borghini managed to follow her. Niewiadoma then produced his effort and held to the line. The Pole wins the 19th victory of her career, the first since June 2019 and a stage of the Women's Tour in Great Britain.

Vollering took second place, Longo Borghini completed the podium. Frenchwoman Evita Muzic (FDJ-Suez) took fourth place, ahead of South African Ashleigh Moolman (AG Insurance-Soudal Team). For her first participation, Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx-Protime) finished 15th.
