The huge Fallout 4 next-gen update is rolling out now, giving fans a big reason to return to the Wasteland. Fallout fever is at an all-time high, as the Amazon TV series has inspired longtime fans to return to the series and has convinced newcomers to give the post-apocalyptic RPG franchise a shot. Fallout player counts are up across the board, and it’s likely Fallout 4 is about to get another significant boost.

Bethesda has been promising a Fallout 4 next-gen update for quite some time, one that would see the game get a native release on PS5 and Xbox Series X. The Fallout 4 next-gen update was originally expected to drop at some point in 2023, but Bethesda ultimately pushed it back. Now, on April 25, the Fallout 4 next-gen update is finally available.

The Fallout 4 next-gen update clocks in at 22.61 GB. After downloading it, Fallout 4 gamers on PS5 and Xbox Series X can enjoy native versions of the game, with Performance and Quality modes to choose from. Performance mode targets 60 FPS, 4K resolution, and standard settings, whereas Quality mode is 30 FPS, 4K resolution, and ultra settings. Fallout 4 fans can also check out free Creation Club content with the update, including a new questline all about the Enclave.

The Fallout 4 next-gen update will also give players access to a new armor and weapon bundle that includes the X-02 Power Armor, Hellfire Power Armor, Heavy Incinerator, and Tesla Cannon, along with Enclave weapon and armor skins. Players can also check out the Makeshift Weapon Pack and the Halloween Workshop, the latter of which will give players more options when building their Fallout 4 settlements.

This update seems to be mostly focused on console gamers, but those playing Fallout 4 on PC can also enjoy the new content, along with additional benefits. Fallout 4 is now available on the Epic Games Store as of the April 25 update, plus PC gamers can take advantage of the game’s new Widescreen and Ultra-widescreen support. On top of that, Fallout 4 has now become Steam Deck verified.

The new update has also squashed some of the lingering Fallout 4 bugs, so fans can expect a generally smoother experience after giving it a download. It should be noted that the Fallout 4 DLC expansions have also been updated, and so fans will have to download updates for them as well.
