”The internship went really wellrejoices his trainer, André Mahy. Eliott recovered well from his efforts in Glasgow where he delivered three races of which I am very proud. After a few days of rest, we got back to work and he will soon be ready to start his outdoor Olympic season.”
Eliott Crestan finishes third in the 800 meters, Belgium leaves with four medals!
Increasingly mature, listening to his body and respecting the protocols put in place, the 25-year-old athlete still has to qualify for the Paris Games. Either by signing the minimum set at 1.44.70 over 800 m (Editor's note: his record, established on September 2, 2022, is 1.44.24) or by accumulating enough points to be taken up via his world ranking.
”Eliott will first make his comeback over 1,500 m in Bertrix, on Saturday May 11, with Smac as part of the interclubs and he will line up the next day over 400 m in Pontoise, in Île-de-France, with his French club Bordeauxdetails André Mahy. The first very important meeting will be the Diamond League meeting taking place at the Grand Stade in Marrakech, on May 19, for a first 800 m, and it will undoubtedly continue with the Ifam on May 25 in Brussels.”
The proposal to race in Stockholm on June 2 was not accepted, given that the departure for the European Championships in Rome is already planned two days later. And Eliott Crestan, second European at the World Indoor Championships behind the Swede Andreas Kramer, will certainly have a prominent role to play at the Olympic stadium.
”This world medal took him into a new dimension: today, Eliott can no longer hide! says his coach. Honestly, he can aspire to get on the podium in Rome and it would be strange to say the opposite. Even if with the Spanish, the French and the English in addition to Kramer, the competition is not the least.”
On June 19, Eliott Crestan should still line up at the Liège meeting for a possible attempt at the Belgian 600m record. Finally, on June 29 and 30, he will defend his title of Belgian champion at the King Baudouin stadium. Just before entering the home stretch for the Games, which will certainly include the Diamond League in… Paris on Sunday July 7.
