The Anderlecht coach is not in favor of the playoffs and will be even less so in the event of a defeat this Saturday. Genk is currently seven points behind the Mauves but a victory for the Limburgers coupled with a draw between the Union and Club Bruges would put the four leading teams within four points. To succeed in defeating their opponent of the day, Genk will have to do without the suspended Joris Kayembe. Eduard Sobol is his natural replacement. The rest of the team should be similar or at least very close to the one that shared the stake against Cercle.
Gattoni and Amuzu holders
Anderlecht must deal with two absentees compared to last weekend: Thorgan Hazard, who will not return until 2025, and Zeno Debast, suspended following his exclusion (two yellows) against the Union. To take his place in central defense alongside Jan Vertonghen, Federico Gattoni acts as a certainty.
A doubt could have remained regarding the name of Thorgan Hazard's replacement in attack support. Brian Riemer, however, had to announce the withdrawal of Yari Verschaeren, not yet fully recovered from a hamstring injury. “He's not far from being able to come back. We are not taking any risk given his liabilities. It's a medical decision. We will see from day to day if he is ready for Wednesday evening's match against Cercle or if it will be for the weekend.
Francis Amuzu will start for the first time since the end of September 2023 and the reception of Club Bruges. “I said he had to be the supersub of the playoffs, he will have to take even more responsibilitiessmiles the Mauves coach. So, yes, I lose the combination game of Thorgan Hazard but we gain the speed of Francis Amuzu who we lacked for a whole part of the season.
The rest of the team should not be changed after the performance against the Union. Thomas Delaney will therefore still have to wait on the bench. Unless Brian Riemer decides to rest certain players given the match scheduled for Wednesday evening against Cercle.
