Brock Bowers is the best tight end in the 2024 NFL Draft, widely viewed as one of the best prospects at the position in years. With draft day imminent, there appears to be a very high floor for where Bowers will be picked in the first round.

There have been very limited NFL Draft rumors on Bowers this offseason. It’s in large part due to an injury he suffered last season and how handled the pre-draft process. The All-American tight end didn’t work out at the NFL Combine then sat out Georgia’s pro day due to a hamstring injury.

Without elite athletic testing numbers to make the rounds on social media or rave reviews from NFL teams on his workouts during drills at the Bulldogs’ pro day, a majority of the NFL Draft buzz has centered on quarterbacks and wide receivers. However, Bowers’ film and resume are still expected to make him one of the top picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.

According to Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, Bowers ‘won’t get past the New York Jets’ with the 10th overall pick and he is strongly in play to be selected by the Chicago Bears with the ninth pick.

While recent reporting close to the Jets has suggested that the team might prefer to take an offensive tackle, that may depend on which offensive linemen are available. Drafting Bowers would be more of a win-now move for New York, providing quarterback Aaron Rodgers with another top offensive weapon to join Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams for the 2024 season.

However, offensive tackle remains a long-term need for the Jets and it could still be in play at the 10th overall pick. Tyron Smith played at a high level last season with the Dallas Cowboys, but the 33-year-old left tackle also played in just 17 combined games from 2020-’22. The Jets are also reportedly open to trading down from No. 10, as the front office is currently without a second-round pick due to last year’s trade for Rodgers.
