Best Underdog Moments In Anime

Highlights

  • Shonen anime frequently features underdog protagonists facing stronger foes in epic battles, resonating with viewers.
  • Memorable underdog moments in anime include Deku’s 1,000,000% smash, Armin and Eren vs Colossal Titan, and Rock Lee vs Gaara.
  • Iconic showdowns like Ichigo vs Byakuya, Gohan’s Super Saiyan 2 transformation, and Jotaro vs Dio showcase the power of perseverance.

Few tropes are as effective at reeling in viewers as a good underdog story, and the medium of anime has been guilty of using this plot point too many times to count. Luckily, the majority of underdog stories in anime are executed quite well, which is why this approach to structuring conflicts has been repeatedly rehashed and recycled in several different contexts.
