Belgians abroad: Loïs Openda saves Leipzig in Heidenheim, Wolfsburg breathes against Bochum, Leicester regains first place (VIDEO)

Loïs Openda scored the winning goal for Leipzig on the Heidenheim pitch (1-2) for the 30th day of the Bundesliga on Saturday. At the same time, Wolfsburg and its Belgians achieved a valuable success at the bottom of the table against Bochum (1-0).

Leipzig had to wait 42 minutes to open the scoring on the promoted pitch via Benjamin Sesko (42nd, 0-1). Openda and his teammates thought they had done the hardest part but Heidenheim, who defeated Bayern Munich two weeks ago, equalized via Nikola Dovedan (69th, 1-1). Leipzig was finally able to count on Openda to avoid disaster. The Red Devil was at the conclusion of a breakthrough from Mohamed Simakan to offer victory to his team (85th, 1-2).

Leipzig thus consolidates its fourth place in the standings with 59 points, three more than Dortmund, 5th, which hosts champion Leverkusen on Sunday. Heidenheim remains 10th with 34 points.

Wolfsburg, for their part, gave themselves some air at the bottom of the table by beating Bochum thanks to a goal from Jonas Wind (43rd, 1-0). The Wolves, without Koen Casteels still injured, but with Sebastiaan Bornauw and Aster Vranckx for 90 minutes, moved up to 13th place with 31 points, four more than Bochum, 15th, and five more than Mainz, 16th and play-off.

Leicester regained the lead of the Championship, the second English division, by winning 2-1 against West Brom on Saturday during the 44th day. Wout Faes played the entire game for the Foxes and Dennis Praet came on in the 82nd minute.

Wilfred Ndidi, the former Genk player, gave Leicester the lead in the first period (22nd, 1-0) before Jamie Vardy missed a penalty just before the break (45th). Vardy redeemed himself in the second half by doubling the lead (65th, 2-0). Jed Wallace reignited the suspense a quarter of an hour from time (76th, 2-1) but the Foxes maintained their lead with the rise of Praet (82nd).

A success which allows Leicester to return to the top of the standings with 91 points, two more than Ipswich, second, while the two teams still have three matches to play.

The top two are automatically promoted to the Premier League and the teams ranked 3rd to 6th play a play-off for the last ticket to the elite.
