Award-Winning Former Xbox Console Exclusive Is Now Available on PlayStation and Switch

Highlights

  • Planet of Lana, a stunning 2D puzzle platformer, is now available on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch for $19.99.
  • The game’s breathtaking art style and clever puzzles have garnered high praise and awards since its release.
  • Developer Wishfully’s debut game has left fans eagerly anticipating its next project after the success of Planet of Lana.

One of 2023’s best indie games, Planet of Lana, is coming to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch almost a full year after its initial release. Planet of Lana first launched in late May 2023 as a day one Xbox Game Pass title, simultaneously releasing on PC, but unfortunately leaving Switch and PlayStation gamers waiting for another year.

A 2D puzzle platforming adventure game, Planet of Lana stuns with its light, watercolor art style. As they explore lush forests and sandy desert biomes, players enlist the help of Mui, a small cat-like creature that proves useful in solving the game’s many cleverly-designed puzzles and evading the rogue robot threats. In a stretch where massive AAA games like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Diablo 4, and others dominated the gaming atmosphere, Planet of Lana still managed to stand out for fans of smaller indie games who adored the game’s striking art style and well-thought-out puzzles.

Planet of Lana Review

Gorgeous indie platformer Planet of Lana is a great example of the genre, presenting a beautiful world, charming story, and some decent puzzles.

With Xbox and PC gamers having had the chance to play Planet of Lana first, it’s now become available for indie fans on Switch and PlayStation to check out. Since it’s still relatively new, Planet of Lana‘s price holds firm at $19.99 on both platforms. While it’s not on PlayStation’s PS Plus subscription service, Planet of Lana is currently still available for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

Planet of Lana Is Now Available On PlayStation and Nintendo Switch

Since launching last Spring, Planet of Lana has caught the attention of several high-profile award shows. Its brilliant soundtrack, composed by Takeshi Furukawa, was nominated at the DICE Awards. It was also up for a Golden Joystick Award, and even earned 2023 Xbox Game of the Year from Edge Magazine over Xbox games like Starfield, Hi-Fi Rush, and Forza Motorsport. There’s currently a flood of interesting new indie games that are set to come out in the coming days, like Another Crab‘s Treasure, Tales of Kenzera: Zau, and the freshly released Harold Halibut. That being said, Planet of Lana is still very much worth picking up on Switch and PlayStation, even among the slew of brand-new indies that are dropping.

Now that Planet of Lana is available on every major platform, it’ll be interesting to see what developer Wishfully will cook up next. Since Planet of Lana was the studio’s debut game, and considering the high praise the title has received, there will no doubt be a following eagerly awaiting any news from Wishfully regarding its next project. Though, since Planet of Lana only just came out last year, it still might be too soon to expect any news from Wishfully at this year’s upcoming Summer Game Fest.
