ATP Rome: Jannik Sinner forced to withdraw due to hip injury

“Of course, I'm very sad that I didn't recover, as it was one of my favorite tournaments. I was looking forward to coming back and playing at home, in front of the Italian crowd,” Sinner regretted. The Italian still plans to go to Rome and stop by the Foro Italico, where the Italian Open is played. “Now I will work with my team and the doctors to be ready for Roland-Garros,” he concluded.

The winner of the Australian Open withdrew on Wednesday before his quarter-final of the Madrid tournament against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime.

On Friday, the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (ATP 3), injured in the forearm, had already announced his withdrawal from the Roman tournament.

The Italian Open will be played from May 8 to 19 on the clay court of the Foro Italico. There will then only be the tournaments in Geneva and Lyon, both from May 19 to 25, before Roland-Garros, which begins on May 26.
