Jente Hauttekeete, who has a personal best of 8,075 points since last year, recorded the following performances: 11.06 for 100m, 7.37m for length, 14.12m for weight, 2.01m for height, 49.16 for 400m, 14.44 in 110m hurdles, 40.13m in discus, 4.85m in pole vault, 56.04m in javelin and 4.30.80 in 1,500m.
He did not win any event but his consistency allowed him to win. “I fought until the end and here I am on the top step of the podium”smiles the winner of the day.
Jente Hauttekeete: a name to remember in decathlon!
This victory, valued at 80 points, will undoubtedly allow Jente Hauttekeete to soon enter the top 24, synonymous with qualification for the Paris Olympic Games, via the world ranking.
Bodart seventh
Still in Brescia, Bertrigeois Robin Bodart (26 years old) finished the decathlon in 7th place after having totaled 7,585 points (his record is 7,719 points).
His performances: 10.93 over 100m, 7.35m length, 12.96m weight, 1.95m height, 50.50 over 400m on the first day; 14.65 for 110m hurdles, 38.55m for discus, 5.15m for pole vault, 47.19m for javelin and 4.59.16 for 1500m.
Van der Plaetsen abandons
The third Belgian entered in the competition, Thomas Van der Plaetsen, for his part abandoned, ill, after the discus throw, the seventh event on the weekend's program.
Among the women, Hanne Maudens (27) finished the heptathlon in 16th place with 5,414 points. The victory went to the American Taliyah Brooks who, with 6,330 points, beat the Irish Kate O'Connor (6,104 pts) and the Swiss Katelyne Adel (6,082 pts).
