AFK Journey: Best A-Rarity Characters, Ranked

In AFK Journey, A-Level Heroes are common characters that are usually recruited through the All-Hero Recruitment Invite Letters. While their Power and Ascension mechanics are the same as S-Level characters, they require fewer resources (i.e., Acorns and EXP) to be maxed out, making them somewhat easier to use.

Currently, there are 22 A-Rarity Heroes in AFK Journey. This list ranks the seven best characters from the A-Level Hero pool and explains why they deserve a place in most teams and comps.

For those embarking on their RPG adventure in FARLIGHT’s AFK Journey, here are ten tips that can turn any beginner into a pro.

7 Marilee

Quick, Unpredictable, and Effective

Best Skill: Mighty Arrow
Faction: Lightbearer
Role: Marksman

Marilee has made her way into the top-tier A-Level Heroes thanks to her reliable performance in PvE modes. Specifically, in Dream Realm, Marilee has been a go-to choice for most players. She confuses the beasts with her movement, creating a constant source of long-range damage while evading most incoming shots.

An ideal feature of Marilee is her Mighty Arrow skill. With this ability, she sends a charged attack at the enemy every couple of seconds. To be more accurate, after every two base attacks, Marilee briefly pauses to charge her arrow and land a stronger striker that comes with a 0.5-second stun.

6 Korin

A Protective Warrior

Best Skill: All-Round Tactic
Faction: Lightbearer
Role: Warrior

Korin is an underrated Warrior in AFK Journey. However, he deserves mention as one of the best A-Level heroes. Thanks to his protectiveness and agility, Korin is an excellent control option. Although he lacks the physical power to push back enemies as Lumont does, Korin’s Demonseal Spear immobilizes attacking troopers for two seconds, creating a brief window for damage dealers to take them out.

As for his best skill, Korin excels at keeping frontline Heroes alive. With his All-Round Tactic, he jumps to a weakened ally, shields them, and attacks the rival Hero near them so the friendly trooper can recover.

5 Lucius

The Best Early-Game Tank

Best Skill: Divine Light Aegis
Faction: Lightbearer
Role: Tank

Lucius might not be as strong as S-Level Tanks like Thoran. However, he is undoubtedly the best early-game Tank, as he provides board-wide selective protection.

With his Divine Light Aegis skill, Lucius summons a shield that covers seven tiles. What makes this shield critical is its ability to protect other Heroes that are away from Lucius. Once activated, the player gets to choose where to deploy this shield. Even in Auto-Battle modes, Lucius is wise enough to lend his shield to the weakest ally on the board.

4 Damian

A Tricky but Trustworthy Support

Best Skill: Emergency Support!
Faction: Wilder
Role: Support

In early-game combat, Damian is not the optimal Support character. However, as players keep Ascending Damian to higher levels, he becomes a reliable PvP pawn. With his Emergency Support, Damian restores up to 120% of the weakest nearby ally’s HP, and can repeat that four times for each character.

There are two different ways for players to acquire the Starshard Spell in AFK Journey, and here is what they entail.

When he is not healing others, Damian is controlling his toy chariot, which can blind enemies and deal damage to them from a distance. The only downside to playing Damian is that he’s not an all-round Support character, and oftentimes, players will feel the need to add a Healer to the team as well.

3 Antandra

She Who Can Bear the Pain

Best Skill: Shield Assault

Role: Tank

Antandra is one of the sturdiest Heroes in AFK Journey. When she’s Ascended to higher levels, her DEF stats become increasingly impressive, turning her into an immortal Tank. On top of that, she has protection-oriented abilities that keep her comrades alive on the battlefield. When her Shield Formation is activated, Antandra gives the Hero in front of her a 5-second protective aura that can resist damage up to 15% of that Hero’s max HP.

In the current metagame, Antandra is used as a linebreaker. This is due to her Ultimate Skill, Shield Assault, which gives her immunity while knocking down nearby enemies. Her ability proves useful when the defensive line of the opponent is preventing the player from attacking the backline’s long-range troopers.

2 Koko

The Guardian Angel

Best Skill: Fulfilling Feast
Faction: Mauler
Role: Support

When Koko is on the board, all allies are safe. She is an all-in-one Support character who shields, buffs, and heals the team, keeping them alive and thriving no matter what. With her best skill, Fulfilling Feast, Koko regenerates the most damaged character’s HP by 230% and gives them a brief ATK buff so that they can fight back more effectively.

Koko’s popularity extends to all game modes. Whether you deploy her in a PvE mode like Dream Real or PvE arenas like Honor Duel, she proves to be a top-tier Hero whom everyone can rely on.

1 Odie

The Overpowered Poison Wielder

Faction: Mauler
Role: Marksman

Also dubbed as the best Marksman in AFK Journey, Odie is the best A-Level Hero players can unlock. Not only is he a great PvP drop, but he also shines in some PvE combat situations, namely the King Croaker battle in Dream Realm.

Odie tops most tier lists because of his Exclusive Skill: Heart Crusher. When he is Ascended to the Mythic+ level, he can instakill a poisoned enemy. This ability becomes critically strategic in PvP combat, where removing any of the enemy’s troops can drastically change the course of the battle.
