Will nuclear energy decide the issue of winning the artificial intelligence race?

According to a report published by the Financial Times and viewed by Sky News Arabia, after decades of stagnation in the West, this year witnessed a major surge in demand for stations. Nuclear energy From huge technology companies, e.g Google Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft.

These companies need massive amounts of low-carbon electricity around the clock to power their data centers and win what one company internally calls a “war artificial intelligence“.

According to the report, some of the world’s largest banks threw their weight behind the industry at a climate event in New York last week in a public show of support for a sector that sells itself as an essential part of the transition to clean energy.

said Yann Licon, chief artificial intelligence scientist at the company deadowner of the famous Facebook website: “AI data centers will be built next to energy production sites that can continuously produce low-cost, low-emission electricity on a 1-gigawatt scale. Basically, next to nuclear power plants.”

According to the Financial Times, while it was… China South Korea has been busy building nuclear reactors in recent decades, there has been a noticeable decline in US And Europe.

After building a wave of nuclear power plants in the 1970s and 1980s, the United States has built only three new reactors since the mid-1990s, as the industry suffered major cost overruns.

The accidents at Three Mile Island in 1979, Chernobyl in 1986, and the 2011 Fukushima earthquake and tsunami also fueled public antipathy toward the technology.

Last month, Microsoft announced that it would revive the stalled nuclear power plant on Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania, while Amazon paid $650 million in March to build a data center next to the Susquehanna Steam Electric nuclear power plant, which is also located in Pennsylvania.

Investors said, according to the report, that the premium prices that technology companies are willing to pay to invest near nuclear power plants may also lead to a wave of investment in building new nuclear plants, due to artificial intelligence.

Will providing nuclear energy to technology companies be the decisive factor in winning the artificial intelligence race?
