The new product is expected to be available from Abu Dhabi later this year. The partnership will provide a number of WeRide vehicles to consumers through the Uber app, which will offer the rider the option to complete the trip in one of WeRide’s self-driving vehicles once the service is activated.
The statement said that the partnership between I want Uber does not plan any launches in the US or China.
WeRide currently operates the largest fleet of autonomous taxis in the UAE, with residents able to avail of its services via the Taxi app. In addition, WeRide obtained the UAE’s first and only autonomous vehicle license in July 2023, enabling it to test and operate its autonomous vehicles on public roads across the Emirates.
