Welcome the new moon and its new beginnings

Welcome the new moon and its new beginnings

It’s Libra time – when the energy of this Venus-ruled sign takes over, casting a glow of balance, harmony and a deep longing for peace and self-expression. Libra is all about bringing beauty to chaos and striving for a world where justice and aesthetics go hand in hand.

The new moon on October 2 kicks things off with clarity and fresh energy. This one’s special – it’s not only a new moon in Libra but also a solar eclipse. You won’t see it, but you’ll definitely feel it. New moons are always about beginnings, and with Libra involved, it’s a moment to rebalance your life, let go of the old, and invite new peace and understanding into your relationships.

Libra teaches us to find balance in all things. But let’s be real – this isn’t always an easy or comfortable process. As I sat in my beautiful living room, gazing out at the serene Salt Lake, I reflected on Libra’s essence. The image of Justice, Truth and Strength came to mind, embodying exactly what Libra season asks of us: to seek fairness, confront truths and stand strong in our pursuit of harmony.

True justice, like Libra energy, isn’t just about weighing scales – it’s also about finding the truth and having the courage to stand up for what’s right, even when it’s hard. Justice requires empathy, too. It’s not just about seeking balance for balance’s sake, but about making decisions that are fair and kind.

Libra often gets misunderstood as a sign that only cares about beauty and smoothing things over. But there’s more to it. Libra understands that life is full of dualities. It’s about the art of balancing opposites, whether in our relationships, with society, or within ourselves. Harmony isn’t passive – it requires effort and, sometimes, tough decisions.

Take Mahatma Gandhi, for example – his sign was Libra, and his pursuit of justice was rooted in non-violence and diplomacy. Libra shows us that true fairness isn’t just about following rules, but about fighting for what’s right in a peaceful, empathetic way.

Meanwhile, Jupiter, the planet of expansion, goes retrograde in Gemini on the same day as the new moon. This calls for some introspection – don’t expect major external breakthroughs, but focus on inner growth. Reflect on how you communicate and think. This retrograde is a gentle reminder that true progress starts from within, not from constant outward striving.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Pluto, the planet of transformation, goes direct in Capricorn. This powerful shift gives us the strength to make lasting changes. The steady, disciplined energy of Capricorn helps us take all the internal work we’ve been doing and turn it into something solid and lasting.

By the time the full moon hits on October 18 in fiery Aries, we’ll feel the tension between self-assertion and cooperation. Aries pushes us to be bold and independent, while Libra asks for balance and partnership. It’s a reminder, as the philosopher Aristotle once said, that “freedom is the ability to do what we ought to do.” Libra teaches us that true freedom comes not from breaking free of all constraints, but from respecting the natural laws – both external and internal – that shape our lives.

As we move through this season, let’s channel the energy of Venus and Libra to embrace change with elegance. There’s power in finding peace amid uncertainty, and Libra shows us that, even in chaotic times, balance is possible. So as you head into this season, take a deep breath, step into your own strength, and let the graceful energy of Libra guide you through whatever comes next.
