Warnings in Poland and Czech Republic of flood risks due to Hurricane Boris

T + T – Normal size

Authorities in the Czech Republic and Poland have warned of the continued risk of flooding in many areas of the two countries, as a result of Hurricane Boris, which is sweeping across Central Europe.

Czech media reported today that at least four people are missing as a result of the floods, while authorities warned of the dangers of rising river levels, with a state of emergency declared in some areas.

In some provinces, orders were issued to evacuate some residents from their homes.

On the other hand, Polish authorities reported that a second dam collapsed in the southwest of the country as a result of continued heavy rainfall, noting that the dam that collapsed is located in the city of Stronie Slaski, near the Polish border with the Czech Republic.

A dam in the nearby mountain village of Medzigorz collapsed on Saturday.

In the same context, Polish media confirmed that movement between the Czech Republic and Poland has completely disappeared due to the floods in the region.

Several cities in Central Europe have witnessed heavy rains in recent days, which led to massive floods, killing several people, forcing thousands to flee their homes, and destroying electricity and transportation infrastructure.
